Fair usage, no fine print games.

Last updated · August 10, 2026Applies to all SureForm plans, including Free.

Our pricing says “unlimited” in several places, and we mean it — for real humans doing real work. This page defines the guardrails that keep the service fast and honest for everyone, and exactly what happens if you brush against them.

01Why this policy exists

SureForm's pricing is deliberately simple: a free plan that stays free, three paid plans that differ mostly in volume, and “unlimited” only where we can honestly offer it — forms and submissions on Premium. To keep that sustainable for everyone, a small minority of usage needs guardrails. This Fair Usage Policy explains where the guardrails are, in plain language.

The short version: use SureForm like a normal business would, and you will never hear from us about fair usage. These limits exist to stop abuse, not to nickel-and-dime you.

Email campaign sends—Unlimited*Unlimited*Unlimited*

Items marked * are subject to the "unlimited means reasonable" rule in Section 3. Campaign sends are not metered by us because campaigns go out through your own email provider. Hard caps (like the Free plan's 100 submissions per month) reset on the first of each month and are always visible in your dashboard before you hit them.

03What “unlimited” means

Unlimited means all the usage a typical organization of your size could reasonably need — not infinite infrastructure. Concretely, we consider usage reasonable when it is:

  • Generated by humans filling in forms, not by scripts, bots, or load tests.
  • Within roughly the range of comparable customers — as a guide, on Premium we start asking questions above 500,000 submissions/month, 5 TB of stored files, or sustained traffic that degrades the Service for others.
  • For your own organization. Reselling SureForm capacity (for example, operating a competing hosted-form service on top of your account) is not reasonable use.

If your needs genuinely exceed these guide rails — a viral campaign, a national census, a product launch — that's great news, and we'll work with you. High-volume customers typically move to a custom arrangement rather than hitting walls.

04Automated traffic & abuse

The following are never fair usage, on any plan:

  • Scripted or bulk-automated submissions, scraping of forms or responses, or credential stuffing.
  • Load or penetration testing against SureForm infrastructure without our written permission (we grant it for reasonable security research — just ask first).
  • Attempting to probe, bypass, or disrupt rate limits, authentication, or other customers' data.
  • Cryptocurrency mining, proxying, or using the Service as general-purpose file hosting or a CDN.

05Content rules that affect usage

Because forms are a favorite tool of phishers, we are strict here — it protects the deliverability and reputation of every legitimate customer:

  • No phishing or deceptive data collection — including forms impersonating banks, government agencies, or other companies.
  • No collecting passwords, full payment card numbers, or government ID numbers outside of our PCI-compliant payment fields.
  • No malware distribution, illegal content, or content that infringes others' rights.
  • No spam: email campaigns may only be sent to contacts who consented, with working unsubscribe honored immediately.

Forms that trigger abuse reports or automated detection may be suspended pending review — see Section 6 for how that works and how to appeal.

06How we enforce this

We designed enforcement to be boring and predictable:

  1. Soft warnings. At 80% and 100% of a hard cap, we email you and show a dashboard banner. Nothing breaks without warning.
  2. Grace handling. On any plan with a monthly submission cap, submissions beyond that cap are held safely for 7 days — upgrade and they're released to your inbox. We never silently discard submissions.
  3. Conversation before restriction. For "unreasonable use" under Section 3, we contact you first and work out a path — a custom plan, an archival export, or a rate limit — before throttling anything.
  4. Immediate action only for abuse. Phishing, malware, illegal content, or attacks on the Service may be suspended immediately to protect others. You can appeal any suspension at abuse@sureform.io; a human reviews every appeal within 2 business days.

07Reporting abuse

If a SureForm-hosted form is being used for phishing, spam, or anything else that violates this policy, please report it to abuse@sureform.io with the form's URL. We investigate every report, typically within 24 hours, and we tell reporters the outcome.
